Physics: Turning Curiosity into Focus

Physics has been where I’ve learned to channel my curiosity into focus and persistence. From building a custom wind tunnel for my IB Extended Essay to smaller experiments in aerodynamics and mechanics, these projects pushed me to adapt when things didn’t work, stay patient through trial and error, and refine my approach step by step. Along the way, I’ve grown not just in analytical and technical skills, but also in my ability to concentrate, problem-solve, and work independently — strengths I now carry into all areas of learning.

Automatic Solar Panel Tracking and Optimization System (Aug'25 - Nov'25)

It’s a solar-powered project that uses automated components to continuously sense environmental conditions and adjust the solar panel’s tilt and orientation. By dynamically calculating the optimal angle relative to the ground, the system maximizes the panel’s power intake throughout the day.

Physics Extended Essay: Aerodynamics

As part of the IB Diploma Extended Essay, I investigated how the shape of an airfoil affects drag and lift using a custom-built wind tunnel. By testing different models and analyzing data on drag coefficients, I found that streamlined designs reduce drag significantly compared to circular shapes.

🔹 Skills gained: experimental design, data analysis, and scientific writing.

Physics Internal Assessment: Temperature and Resistance

As part of my IB Physics coursework, I investigated how temperature affects the electrical resistance of a metallic wire. Using a custom-built setup with an aluminum wire, thermocouple, and digital multimeter, I measured resistance across controlled temperature ranges and analyzed the data to determine the temperature coefficient of resistance (α). The results confirmed a strong linear relationship between temperature and resistance, aligning with theoretical predictions of electron-lattice interactions in metals.

🔹 Skills gained: experimental calibration, data analysis using regression, and uncertainty quantification.
